There are far too many people navigating the shame and the complexities of these issues alone, and we’re hoping to bring it to life, create some solutions and help people to move forward.

Evin Marie, Blondena's HEIRS Founder

MISSION

Blondena’s HEIRS supports African American families through every stage of property inheritance and legacy planning through community conversations, mediation, storytelling, education, and advocacy. HEIRS stands for Heritage, Equity, Inheritance, and Resources for Sustainability.

VISION

Our vision is for Black families to be empowered to make financially progressive decisions about legacy properties, to heal relationships strained by inheritance-related conflicts, such as mismanagement, unclear ownership, inequitable distribution, or loss of property, and to preserve the stories of undocumented Black institutions that were instrumental to the financial and social development of the United States.

50-77% of Black families lose property due to not having a will, leading to a lack of “heirs property” and land being passed down without a clear title. Heirs property is a major contributor to the loss of Black-owned land in the United States.

SUPPORT TODAY

Blondena's HEIRS has had an impactful year and we need your support to expand our reach. Within the next year, we aim to:

  • Support at least 50 wills being filled
  • Offer counseling and mediation support to families quarreling about inheritance matters
  • Educate adults and children through community programs
